President urges growth of aviation technology sector (03-05-2005) HCM CITY — President Tran Duc Luong praised the Ministry of Defence and air force, and asked them to continue with their successes and carry on developing the aviation sector into the future. Speaking on a visit to factory A41 of the Department of Airforce Technology on April 30, Luong praised the factory's staff, soldiers and workers for their exceptional work maintaining, repairing and upgrading aviation equipment and producing and improving the light-planes that serve military and civil purposes. In 2004 the factory, in co-ordination with Airforce Technology Institute, successfully designed and created the VNS-41 light-plane, the first of its kind made in Viet Nam, to be used for patrol and rescue operations. Now the company has managed to secure 60 per cent of technology materials for the production of the plane. Luong stressed that the Party and State have paid great attention to the development of national defence, including the efficiency of military equipment, logistics, and the national defence industry in order to help the military operate effectively.
