The Witcher Netflix series panel at San Diego Comic Con 2019 was not horsing around. With the cast, including Henry Cavill, assembled alongside showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, the very first trailer for the television adaptation was revealed - and you can watch it above.Seen it? What a ride! The Witcher Netflix series trailer easily ranks among the best San Diego Comic Con 2019 trailers to come out of the show thus far. While we've seen glimpses of Henry Cavill’s Geralt before, as well as Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer and Ciri (played by Freya Allen), this is the first time we’ve seen them in motion – and they’re looking every bit the spitting image of their game counterparts. Roach, who we also saw for the first time earlier this month, is sadly absent. There’s even a slice of story to get stuck into. As the Witcher Netflix series trailer shows, Geralt goes face-to-face with a murky spider at the trailer's end, with the monster hunter's eyes … [Read more...] about Witcher Netflix series trailer released at SDCC 2019 – watch it now

Raiders’ finale in Oakland punctuates emotional journey for team and fans
Nearly 60 years ago, they began in a fledgling football league representing a little-known city. They morphed into a storied, renegade franchise — run by an eccentric coach-turned-executive and propelled by outlandish characters on the field, inspiring a cult-like following. And now, once again, the Oakland Raiders are leaving. Sunday’s game at the Coliseum against Jacksonville marks the end of a crazy and colorful era, probably the last NFL game ever played in Oakland. The Raiders plan to move into a nearly $2 billion stadium in Las Vegas next season. Their impending departure will separate a team from its rich roots. The Raiders and Oakland long ago formed a bond strong enough to survive 13 seasons in Los Angeles (1982-94), when then-managing general partner Al Davis first wandered away in search of a shinier venue. This time, Davis’ son Mark — who took over when his father died in 2011 — could not resist the lure of $750 million in public money to help … [Read more...] about Raiders’ finale in Oakland punctuates emotional journey for team and fans
The 10 Design Trends Of 2017 That Need To Die
In many respects, 2017 was an incredible year for design. Brands such as Nike took a powerful stance on inclusion. Virtual reality enabled exciting new experiences. Inventors solved some of the longstanding problems mainstream design has ignored, like better breast pumps for nursing mothers. However, there were plenty of blunders, frustrations, and annoyances, too. Simply put, these 10 design trends need to die. advertisement advertisement Opaque Algorithms Has the moment of reckoning finally come for opaque algorithms? Algorithms are the silent puppeteers of our lives, deciding how we vote, what we read, how we dress, what we watch, how we’re policed, and more. We don’t know how these algorithms work. What’s even more troublesome is that the companies that are designing and using these algorithms often don’t either. One of Facebook’s algorithms, for example, created anti-Semitic categories for users, which violated the site’s … [Read more...] about The 10 Design Trends Of 2017 That Need To Die
Witcher Netflix series showrunner on why Superman will make the perfect Geralt
The Witcher Netflix series is nearly here, and expectations are high. In a new interview, showrunner Lauren Hissrich explained exactly why Henry Cavill is her Geralt of Rivia, and revealed that the show's themes will be more Game of Thrones than PG-13."Looking at the final product, it’s really exciting. He embodies Geralt in a way that I don’t think anybody else could," Hissrich said of Cavill while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. "I met him at the very beginning of the process. He said, 'I would love to play this character.' I said, 'Henry, you’re amazing, but we haven’t even started thinking about casting yet.' Then I met 207 other possible Geralts. And I came back to Henry at the end," she said. "And once I started writing I couldn’t get Henry’s voice out of my head for the character."She also promised that fans would be impressed by how Geralt looks in the show and that he will "definitely have some of the things fans love the most in … [Read more...] about Witcher Netflix series showrunner on why Superman will make the perfect Geralt
Here’s your first look at Roach in the Witcher Netflix series (and is that a second sword we spy?)
The Witcher Netflix series is slowly gearing up for its SDCC 2019 showing. Case in point: showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has given us the first glimpse of Geralt's trusty steed, Roach. Not only is the apple-munching filly (yes, she's a girl!) carrying the weight of Henry Cavill's monster hunter on her back, but she's also hiding what looks like a hotly-debated second sword - one that was absent from the first round of Witcher Netflix series images. As revealed on Hissrich's Twitter account with the lovably adorable caption "Everyone needs a best friend. World, meet Roach" (and, yes, horse emojis), Roach is seen guiding Geralt down a path away from a walled community.Everyone needs a best friend. World, meet Roach. ♥️⚔️🐺🐴 @witchernetflix pic.twitter.com/nqXKVc3qD7July 16, 2019But that's not all there is to that image. Look a little closer and you might just discover two very interesting tidbits, namely that the second sword is present. You can see … [Read more...] about Here’s your first look at Roach in the Witcher Netflix series (and is that a second sword we spy?)
